Sorry I haven’t blogged for a while, but the wet and windy conditions over the recent months has meant that not many of us has ventured to many of the rock marks in the area .
The Cheese Rock and Dunskey Castle marks at Portpatrick have produced a few Codling up to 2lbs, Coalfish, Pollack, and Dogfish. At the Yellow Isle just north of Portpatrick a few small whiting, dabs, dogfish, coalfish and odd pollack being caught.
Portlogan Beach producing small Coalfish , odd school Bass, Flounder etc. mostly to worm baits.
L.S.A.A Christmas Match
We fished the Match on Kilstay Beach ,which is just before Drumore village in mid December, there were a few Dogfish ,small Coalfish, Rockling, Pollack and Flounder.
Sandy Wason from Ayr won this match and myself was second.
The Pike Lochs have fished all winter as the temperature has been mild. White field Loch at Glenluce been producing pike up to 14lbs, and White Loch at Monrieth also producing a few fish in double figures.
Hoping the wet and windy weather disperses before the trout season starts in March
Tight Lines Eric
This period of May is usually lovely weather, but as of late we have been hammered with gale force winds and heavy rain.
Tope and Smoothhounds are here if we could get out to catch them.
One of our local Club members hooked a Tope from Chappelrossan, but did not land it as he only had 1/0 hooks on fishing for Dogfish and it straightened the hooks.
Mackerel are scattered all over as the strong winds have battered the whole peninsula,a few Bass were caught last week , but Pollack fishing has been restricted due to weather.
The Boats were getting some good fishing, before the weather changed for the worse, Codling, Haddock, Pollack, Plaice even odd Spurdog and Bullhuss from Portlogan and Portpatrick marks. Tope, Thornback Ray, Dogfish and Smoothhound in Lucebay .
Glenluce Angling Club
Are having their monthly Pike Match on this Sunday29th May,starts at 11.00am -3.30pm.
I will post another more accurate picture of the Sea Fishing once the winds subside.
